Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Library: Toronto's Newest Library

Updated: Nov 12, 2024

Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Library is Toronto's newest library located a one-minute walk from Bessarion Station on Line 4. It opened on July 4th, 2023, and I went on July 5th, 2024. The library is inside a community centre which also has a pool.

In the library, there was a big kids section that was inspired by nature which was very nice.

The teen section was also big. The library was very spacious and there was enough room for me to get around comfortably.

The bathroom was big and nice, but there was a two-sided button that might not be accessible to some people.

three buttons. the one on the left has open door on the left side, and lock door on the right
This seems like a design flaw.

The library also had a lot of Indigenous books. I got Sheine Lende by Darcie Little Badger, and House Party edited by justin a. reynolds.

After I left, I went to Bread & Roses Bakery in Bayview Village, a bakery serving ice cream. It was a ten-minute walk from Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Library, and a two-minute walk from Bayview Station. The day I was there, their credit card machine wasn’t working. I bought blueberry cheesecake gelato.

It was good, but, it wasn’t special. When I finished, we went to get our car from downstairs, and the elevator could only fit two people.

Overall, Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Library was very accessible and Bayview Village was less accessible but still very good.
