Bloor Gladstone Library

Updated: Aug 1, 2024

Bloor/Gladstone Library is a two-minute walk from Dufferin Station on Line 2. It was opened in 1913, but it has an addition which opened in 2009. It has two main floors with a mini floor in the middle. It is supposed to have a green roof, but when I got there, the librarian said it was permanently closed. On the bottom floor, there is a big kids section.

There is also a small green space on the bottom floor that is usually closed. I got special permission to see it. It was very small and disappointing.

This was the entire green space

The bathroom is on the bottom floor, I don’t think there was a separate accessible bathroom, and the one in the regular bathroom was a little small.

On the top floor, there is a teen section and an adult section.

I got two books from the library. Mistborn: Secret History by Brandon Sanderson and Luck of the Titanic by Stacey Lee.

After I left, I went to Filosophy which was a ten-minute walk from Bloor/Gladstone Library. It is a one-minute walk to Ossington Station. It is a bakery that also sells ice cream. Filosophy was small and crowded, so I ate outside.

outside filosophy, there are red umbrellas

I got peach sorbet and lemon lavender ice cream.

I think that the peach sorbet was too strong and tasted too much like candy, and not enough like fruit. The lemon lavender ice cream didn’t taste enough like lavender.

Overall, Bloor/Gladstone Library was pretty accessible and Filosophy was less accessible but manageable.
